ALTAFF
Friends of Libraries U.S.A. (FOLUSA) and the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA) joined forces to become an expanded division of ALA. The new organization will be called the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF).
Citizens for Libraries
· ALTAFF became a combined division of ALA in 2009 and includes the former organizations we knew as the Association of Library Trustees and Advocates and Friends of Libraries U.S.A. We are now a new division of ALA.
· With the merging of these two organizations, ALTAFF automatically grew to nearly 5,000 individual, group, and board members.
· By bringing together all formalized citizen groups that support and govern libraries, we believe we can become the most powerful lay voice for libraries in the nation.
· The focus of ALTAFF will be to help educate and support Trustees, Friends and Foundation members to help maximize their effectiveness on behalf of all types of libraries everywhere including their ability to be excellent library governors, fundraisers and especially advocates.
· ALTAFF will provide education and support through its newsletter The Voice for Americas Libraries regional training, webinars and podcasts, toolkits, publications, and programs at national, state and regional conferences.
· ALTAFF welcomes new members and information on joining can be found at ala.org/altaff.
The mission of ALTAFF is to support citizens who govern, promote, advocate and fundraise for all types of libraries.
